How long does a piano tuning take?

A standard tuning takes around 90 minutes. Catch-up and vintage services can take longer because they need extra care and, often, a pitch raise before fine tuning.

How often should my piano be tuned?

Most manufacturers recommend tuning at least once a year. Regular maintenance protects your instrument and keeps it a joy to play. If yours hasn't been touched in 3+ years, our Catch-up Tuning is the right starting point.

Do you service older pianos?

Yes — vintage pianos (pre-1970) are a specialty. Please note we do not service the older Beale and player pianos.

What areas do you cover?

All of Sydney, Wollongong, the Illawarra, the Southern Highlands, the Central Coast and the Blue Mountains.

How do I pay for piano tuning?

Jema Pianos accepts cash and card. A receipt is emailed at the end of the appointment. If a discount has been applied, cash is preferred — it helps keep prices low by avoiding card and banking fees.

Overview

This website is operated by Jema Pianos. Throughout the site, the terms “we”, “us” and “our” refer to Jema Pianos. By visiting our site and/or purchasing something from us, you engage in our “Service” and agree to be bound by the following terms and conditions. 1 · Service Terms

You represent that you are at least the age of majority in your state or province of residence, or that you have given us consent to allow any minor dependents to use this site. You may not use our services for any illegal or unauthorised purpose, nor violate any laws in your jurisdiction. You must not transmit any worms, viruses or code of a destructive nature. A breach of any of the Terms will result in immediate termination of your Services.

2 · General Conditions

We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone for any reason at any time. You agree not to reproduce, duplicate, copy, sell, resell or exploit any portion of the Service without our express written permission.

3 · Cancellation Fee

You will not incur a fee for service cancellations as long as you provide as much notice as possible. However, if a technician arrives and you are not available, are sick, or have COVID, and you have made no attempt to cancel your service, you will be billed $110.

4 · COVID-19 Exposure

If you or a member of your household has COVID-19 or has been exposed to a person with COVID-19, you must inform us immediately to cancel or reschedule your appointment. This applies if you become aware of exposure after a piano tuning has taken place in your residence. Knowingly proceeding with the Service in such an event will result in substantial penalties.

5 · Unforeseen Circumstances

We reserve the right to cancel the service due to any unforeseen circumstances that prevent the Service from taking place. In such an event, you will be notified immediately and given the opportunity to reschedule.

6 · Work Authority

By engaging our Services, you permit us to undertake work on your piano for the purposes of tuning, maintenance and repair, carried out by a trained technician. We shall not be liable for the breakage of piano strings that were rusted or brittle, for the exacerbation of existing cracks or creation of new cracks if your piano is not strong enough to withstand a normal tuning, or for any damage incidental to the work unless caused negligently.

7 · Accuracy of Information

The material on this site is provided for general information only and should not be relied upon as the sole basis for decisions without consulting more accurate or complete sources. Any reliance on the material is at your own risk. We reserve the right to modify the contents of this site at any time without obligation to update.

8 · Modifications to the Service and Prices

Prices for our services are subject to change without notice. We reserve the right to modify or discontinue the Service at any time without notice, and shall not be liable for any such change, suspension or discontinuance.

9 · Personal Information

Your submission of personal information through the site is governed by our Privacy Policy.

10 · Errors, Inaccuracies and Omissions

Occasionally there may be information on our site that contains typographical errors, inaccuracies or omissions. We reserve the right to correct any errors and to change or update information at any time without prior notice.

If any provision of these Terms is determined to be unlawful, void or unenforceable, that provision shall be enforceable to the fullest extent permitted by law, and the unenforceable portion shall be severed without affecting the remaining provisions.

15 · Complaints

Complaints must be sent to Jema Pianos in writing within 7 days of the Service being performed. Complaints made outside this time frame will not be accepted.

16 · Governing Law & Changes

These Terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia. We reserve the right to update, change or replace any part of these Terms by posting changes to our website. Your continued use of the site following any changes constitutes acceptance of those changes.
